Composer
I am an explorative composer, whose eclectic musical interests have led to a wide variety of different projects- from pieces for education and beginner instrumentalists to electronic experimental music and everything in between. My passion for stories and field recordings has resulted in several compositions that explore the link between text and the emotional response. My works have been performed by numerous groups including school groups and more recently Plus- Minus ensemble and Bath City Waits.

I studied Music performance at Leeds College of Music, and more recently with James Saunders at Bath Spa University, whilst completing my Masters in Composition.

My classical start to life ignited my passion for instrumental music and sound in general. Over the years I have performed with a multitude of different ensembles, in a variety of genres; from chamber groups and orchestras through to jazz and rock bands. This range of musical experiences has enabled me to develop a broader understanding of creating a rich sound pallet.

Creative starting points can be found in the unlikeliest of places, from the objects around me, to the places I stand and the stories I unearth. My music aims to connect the audience to the subject through their emotions. If my music made you smile, cry or you felt something, then I have achieved my goal.

The Courtesy of Strangers

Inspired by a poem of the same name, written by A. Herve. The courtesy of strangers explores the idea of immigration and the reliance of the courtesy of strangers for those that have been forced to flee their homes. It is easy to turn a blind eye to the plight of others, this is a situation that every single one of us could find ourselves in.
Murmuration
Inspired by O. Wrights video of a starling murmuration. I have always had a fascination with murmurations, their seemingly unorganised, chaotic, beautiful behaviour, the more I researched this phenomenon the more I realised that this wasn’t the case. Did you know that each individual starling responds to only its seven closest neighbours and ignores all others. No collective thought, no hierarchy just responding to those around you.
Three words, three ways
A walking piece, inspired by the Covid lockdowns of 2020-2021. When the World seemed locked down and individuals became isolated. This piece uses the app What 3 words as an inspirational starting point, and shares the journey of three people meeting up for the first time after the last lockdown. The composition is set in Bath, each person setting off from a significant landmark- The Royal Crescent, the Circus and Queens square.
The Venting space
At times, we all feel like we are not being heard, despite all of our efforts to share our thoughts and feelings. This composition explores the relationship between the vented word and the perceived. Performed by Plus Minus ensemble.

Particles of Time

Six short pieces for Clarinet and Piano

The title comes from a quotation by Khalid Masood

“The real fundamental building blocks of the universe and matter are not indivisible particles, but
infinitely divisible moments in time.”

Whatsapp City

Inspired by 'A city of the people, for the people, by the people', by Ayona Datta. Taken from the book 'How to run a city like Amazon, and other fables.

This composition explores the moral issues surrounding the internet and Whatsapp. In a world where a city is managed and owned by a comercial company, secrets and privacy become a thing of the past.
In the time it takes

This composition explores the idea events happening within events. As humans we become consumed by single events, ignoring the passing of time and life within these moments. In the time it takes to run a bath, a composition was made and performed.
Discarded
This composition takes a look at the at the relationship between humans and waste. All sounds in this project were collected from the local area and include coffee cups, plastic bottles and bags, as well as a discarded tractor that was found in a ditch.
